Our Beliefs

The Old and New Testaments are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration. They are the standard of character, the test of experience and the trustworthy record of God’s acts in history.

There is one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons — infinite, all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever present.

God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer and Sovereign of all creation. He is just and holy, merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Fully God and fully human, He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose from the dead and ascended to minister for us in heaven.

God the eternal Spirit was active in creation, inspired the writers of Scripture and fills Christ’s life with power. He draws, convicts and renews people, and gives gifts to the church.

God has revealed in Scripture the authentic account of His creative activity. In a recent six-day creation He made the heavens and the earth, and rested on the seventh day.

Man and woman were made in the image of God, free to think and to act. When they disobeyed, their descendants shared the fallen nature, yet God in Christ reconciles the world to Himself.

All humanity is involved in a great controversy between Christ and Satan over the character of God, His law and His sovereignty. God will ultimately vindicate His righteousness and love.

In Christ’s life of perfect obedience, His suffering, death and resurrection, God provided the only means of atonement for human sin, so that those who accept it by faith may have eternal life.

In infinite love and mercy God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us. Led by the Spirit we sense our need, repent, and by faith receive Jesus as Saviour and Lord.

By His death Jesus triumphed over the forces of evil. We grow in Him through prayer, the study of His Word, worship, fellowship and participation in His mission.

The church is the community of believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. We join together for worship, fellowship, instruction in the Word, the Lord’s Supper and service to all people.

In the last days a remnant is called out to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, announcing the arrival of the judgment hour and proclaiming salvation through Christ.

The church is one body with many members, called from every nation, kindred, tongue and people. In Christ distinctions of race, culture, education and nationality do not divide us.

By baptism we confess our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and testify of our death to sin and our purpose to walk in newness of life. It is by immersion and follows instruction in the Scriptures.

The Lord’s Supper is a participation in the emblems of the body and blood of Jesus as an expression of faith in Him. It is preceded by the foot-washing as a service of humility and reconciliation.

God bestows upon all members of His church spiritual gifts, which each member is to employ in loving ministry for the common good of the church and of humanity.

The Scriptures testify that prophecy is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G. White. The Bible remains the standard by which all teaching must be tested.

The great principles of God’s law are embodied in the Ten Commandments and exemplified in the life of Christ. Obedience is not the way of salvation but the fruit of it, the loving response of the redeemed.

The gracious Creator rested on the seventh day and instituted the Sabbath as a memorial of creation. It is observed from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday as a day of delightful communion with God and one another.

We are God’s stewards, entrusted with time and opportunities, abilities and possessions, and the blessings of the earth. We acknowledge His ownership by faithful service and by returning tithes and giving offerings.

We are called to be a godly people who think, feel and act in harmony with biblical principles in every aspect of life — including care for the body as the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Marriage was divinely established in Eden as a lifelong union between a man and a woman in loving companionship. The family is to be a place of love, respect and spiritual growth.

There is a sanctuary in heaven where Christ ministers on our behalf, making available to believers the benefits of His atoning sacrifice offered once for all on the cross.

The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church. His return will be literal, personal, visible and worldwide, and the righteous dead will be raised.

The wages of sin is death, but God, who alone is immortal, will grant eternal life to His redeemed. Until that day, death is an unconscious state for all people.

The millennium is the thousand-year reign of Christ with His saints in heaven between the first and second resurrections. At its close sin and sinners are destroyed, and the universe is freed of sin forever.

On the new earth, in which righteousness dwells, God will provide an eternal home for the redeemed and a perfect environment for everlasting life, love, joy and learning in His presence.
